Paving Slabs & Tiles

Paving slabs (also known as 'flags') are sections of stone or pre-cast concrete. They are usually rectangular, although many other shapes such as hexagons or curves are available. There is also a wide range of sizes, textures and colours. Slabs are popularly used for patios, paths and drives and are easy to lay once the base has been prepared.

Crazy paving may be laid using a selection of randomly sized, irregular pieces of slab. Although the finished result may look haphazard, it can actually be quite difficult to set out; you may find it easier if you're good at jigsaw puzzles!

Ceramic, quarry and other types of tile may also be used as a surface in the garden, although you must always check with your supplier before buying to make sure that they are fully frost-proof.
