Choisya
Family: Rutaceae
Common Name: Mexican Orange Blossom
These hardy, evergreen shrubs from Mexico look very pretty with their masses of sweetly scented, starry flowers against the glossy, dark green leaves. Only one of the species is commonly grown.
Species
C. ternata grows into a rounded bush, to 3 m (10 ft), with fragrant leaves and white flowers, resembling orange blossom, for several months of the year. Cultivar 'Sundance' has golden yellow foliage when grown in full sun.
Cultivation
Choisya will grow in any reasonably fertile soil. It will tolerate seaside conditions, but not direct exposure to salt-laden winds. Prune into shape after flowering. Propagate from semi-ripe cuttings in summer.
Climate
Zone 7.
