Common Name: Old Man Cactus
Native to Mexico, this cactus genus contains three species, of which one is commonly grown. It is most often grown as a curiosity in pots or other containers.
Species
C. senilis is covered in long, white hair and develops a flowering point on one side near the apex of the stem, from which cream, nocturnal flowers are produced. It grows to 45 cm (18 in).
Cultivation
Grow in an intermediate greenhouse in pots of well-drained cactus compost and in maximum light. Water regularly in the growing period but keep dry in winter.
